Beginning Bagpipes & Drums Course
Welcome! Queen City JPD offers a 10 week course in beginning bagpipes or drums. These courses take place several times throughout the year. Please contact us for more information.
The cost of the course is $150.00, which includes a practice chanter (for piping students) or drumsticks and a practice pad (for drumming students), plus a tutor book and 10 weeks of Instruction.
Structure of the program:
Students will begin with a short course on Basic Music Theory and Counting Rhythms. (This portion of the course will take place on Thursday Night at the “Band Hall”). From there, the student will move to either the piping or drumming course. (A time will be set up with an instructor at the convenience of the student/parent and instructor).
At the end of the course, the student should be proficient in Basic Music Theory, Counting Rhythms and have worked their way into playing a basic tune. From here, the student will then attend full rehearsals on Thursday nights and begin to learn the Level One tunes as well as making the transition to the Bagpipe or full sized drum!
