Our group of young pipers and drummers were given a great opportunity to see how bagpipes are made. It’s not often that a band has a pipemaker living in their own backyard. Roddy, founder/owner of MacLellan Bagpipes, has been making pipes for 25 years. He began in NY and is now in Monroe, NC, a suburb of Charlotte. The kids saw firsthand the many materials used in making pipes. Roddy shared the history of how he came to make pipes and how his are unique to others. We truly enjoyed every minute of this experience and learning from such a unique and gifted artist. Our band uses Roddy for many things, including many of our band pipes, which are made of Delrin material. Thanks Roddy for the great experience!
