Welcome to the Rose & Thistle Ladies Pipe Band Page!

We are a branch of the Queen City Juvenile Pipes & Drums based out of Charlotte, NC! The main body of the band is made up of women from around the South Eastern States.

As strong as the woman next to me: The Rose & Thistle Ladies Pipe Band showcases the strength, skill and spirit of women in the Pipe Band World. Our mission is to raise Cancer Awareness through music! The Band formed in 2025 with the goal of putting together an all Lady’s Pipe Band to play events and raise money for Cancer Research.

We are also planning a very exciting venture to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in 2026. The Band was opened to membership from around the World for this endeavor! We have interested parties from all over the USA, Canada and Australia!

The Band has chosen to wear the Spirit of Scotland Weathered Tartan due to its lovely lavender hue.

Lavender is the recognized universal color for all cancers. It serves as a unifying symbol, representing awareness and support for individuals affected by any form of cancer, as well as their caregivers and loved ones.

While many specific cancers have their own distinct awareness ribbon colors (e.g., pink for breast cancer, orange for leukemia, dark blue for colon cancer), the lavender ribbon is used to represent the collective fight against cancer as a whole. The color lavender was chosen for its calming and healing tones, and it symbolizes unity and inclusivity within the broader cancer community.

We are very excited to be getting this off the ground! Please check back as we will be updating and adding to our page!
