The Queen City Pipes & Drums came about thanks to the dedication of local pipers and drummers in the Charlotte area who wanted to promote the Great Scottish Highland Bagpipes and its percussion accompaniment to the younger generations. We got started by getting our 501(c)3 status, putting together a business plan, and taking the huge leap off the cliff! The support so far has been very encouraging. Our goal was to have a competitive Juvenile Band by 2016, and we accomplished that goal and much more!
Until 2023, the Band was made up of young adults ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. While we would love to keep Queen City strictly a Juvenile organization, we can’t realistically sustain that at the time. As the band was recently upgraded to Grade 4, we opened up the membership to both Juveniles and Adults alike, with the goal of rebuilding the Grade 5 Band as strictly a juvenile organization.
We welcome ALL ages interested in playing the Bagpipes, snare drum, tenor drum, or bass drum!
The Band rehearses at East Charlotte Presbyterian Church (10101 Robinson Church Rd, Charlotte, NC) on Thursday nights from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

The Band is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization
